Question: I earned a CIS certificate can I apply it towards a degree?

Answer: Yes, courses that make up CIS certificates can be used in a degree program.

Question: Who do I talk to about what CIS classes to take?

Answer: Any CIS faculty member or an advisor in Enrollment services.

Question: Do I have to take Introduction to Computers (CISM 125) before I take The Internet and The World Wide Web (CISM 127), even though I am online every day?

Answer: Yes, you mayy also try to test out of the Introduction to Computers prerequisit. Please see above.

Office Systems Technology FAQ

Question: If I am taking Document Production I. Can I also take Word Processing I?

Answer: Keyboarding and Document Production I and Word Processing I may be taken concurrently.

Question: I know how to use a word processor very well may I test out of Document Production I and Keyboarding.

Answer: The prerequisite of Keyboarding and Document Production I may be waived by contacting the professor if you are interested in registering for Word Processing I or Keyboarding and Document Production II.

Question: I have a high level of proficiency in Document Production and Keyboarding may I test out?

Answer: If you would like credit for your proficiency in Keyboarding and Document Production I and Word Processing I, you should contact our Testing Office for Credit by Examination.

Question: I am working on my A.A.S. in Office Systems Technology degree may I apply any of those courses toward a certificate.

Answer: While pursuing your A.A.S. degree in Office Systems Technology, you may receive certificates for completion of our professional series of courses. Keyboarding and Document Production I is OSTM110 Word Processing I is OSTM141
