Eight Tips for Getting an “A” in Interpersonal Communications
1. Get Organized
¨Get a notebook or binder & specify a place for this class' notes and handouts.
¨Bring notebook to EVERY class.
2. Do the
¨ Reading the assigned chapters in the textbook is essential to doing well in the course.
¨Do not slack with your reading. It will be overwhelming to try and catch up at the end.
3. Take the Notes
¨There is so much material covered in the textbook. The notes you take in class give you a better idea of what you will eventually be tested on.
4. The Syllabus is Your Very Best Friend
¨The syllabus is one of your most important resources. In it you find essential information such as:
¨There are no surprises. The Syllabus really outlines everything you need to know about the course. Use it to your advantage. Be prepared.
5. The Handouts are Your Other Best Friends
¨Save all handouts. They will help you learn the material and they give you a clue as to what you will be tested on.
¨Handouts with instructions for your projects and papers are very important. They serve as a tool in outlining what is required for a good grade.
6. Get Cozy with Your Group Mates
¨ Meeting with group members outside of class will give you more time to create a better project together. An added bonus: you may make some friends in the process.
7. Pay Close Attention to the Required Style for Papers
¨Pick either APA or MLA format and stick to it throughout the whole paper. Make good use of that Hacker Handbook. Don't forget the cover page and the format that the instructor asks for (find this is the syllabus).
8. Have Fun
¨You might actually learn something!
