After listening to a broadcast about “Much Lie Situations” from Montana Public Radio, as a group, discuss the following questions:
1. How would you define lying?
2. Is it ethical to lie in certain interpersonal communication situations?
3. Under what conditions?
4. Would you lie if your friend had an ugly baby?
5. What is the denotation and connotation of the word “ugly”?
6. Is describing a baby as ugly factual or inferential?
7. Is “ugly” a snarl word?
8. Does the word ugly communicate criticism or praise?
