Kicks Off Leaves for Learning Beautification Project
To Benefit New Cape May County Campus
MIDDLE TOWNSHIP—Atlantic Cape
Community College, in partnership with
Cape Savings Bank, launched its Leaves for Learning Beautification Project
Friday, May 14, at the site of the new Cape May County campus now under
construction. The project aims to rally community support to raise funds
for trees and shrubs to enhance the landscaping at the full-service campus.
The
campaign will run through the Fall 2005, when the new campus is expected
to
open to students. Residents and businesses can support Leaves for Learning
by making a donation directly to ACCC or at any of Cape Savings Bank’s
13 locations in Atlantic and Cape May counties. Donors will receive a free
tree seedling while supplies last. In addition, supporters who give more
than $65 to ACCC will have their names permanently displayed at the new
campus.
The new facility will be located on 29 acres on Cape May Court House-South
Dennis Road. The nearly 68,000-square-foot building will feature a brick
façade, an information commons, a combination library and computer
lab, 19 classrooms including chemistry and biology labs, four computer
labs, and support services facilities including a full-service food and
dining area and a bookstore. The campus will also provide facilities
for continuing education to serve the needs of business and community
enrichment programs. All facilities will be fully accessible to persons
with disabilities.
Friday’s campaign kickoff included announcements
from ACCC, Cape Savings Bank and Cape May County officials at the adjacent
Rutgers Cooperative Extension. The presentation of a $25,000 check from
Cape Savings Bank to jump-start the project was followed by a van tour
of the new campus.
